Susno faces punishment
Written by andri

National Police chief Gen. Bambang Hendarso Danuri has given his deputy Comr. Gen. Yusuf Manggabarani a week to complete an investigation into former detective chief Comr. Gen. Susno Duadji for alleged breach the police code of ethics.

Susno, high-ranking officer, sparked anger among the police force’s leaders Thursday for appearing at the South Jakarta District Court to testify for former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Antasari Azhar, who stood trial for premeditated murder charges.

"Next week [the investigation] should be finished," Bambang told Antara on Friday. He expressed regret that a senior officer such as Susno acted against the police code of ethics and discipline.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang said Susno failed to turn up at the police headquarters Friday and was considered absent without leave for two days after not attending work Thursday.

“He did not notify his absence and is classified as AWOL,” Edward said.

The violation carries punishment that ranges from reprimand from the police chief to dismissal.

In a different fashion, Susno sparked public outrage a few months ago for coining a crocodile (police) against gecko (KPK) rivalry, referring to a stand-off between the two groups. Susno later lost his post as the detective chief, in part to public pressure, after a presidential team found the police probe into alleged bribery involving two KPK leaders lacked evidence and was framed.
